Note: You are only to run SysOp Alert if you agree that your doing it at your
own risk. This program did not do anything to my computer so it shouldn't
do anything to yours. BUT IT MIGHT!...
YOU CAN ONLY RUN THIS PROGRAM AT YOUR OWN RISK!
New Features In Version 1.20:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Sysop Alert now takes notice of the Pager Status in RA (On/Off) NOTE: IF YOUR
PAGER IS SET TO USE THE PAGER HOURS IT WILL NOT MAKE ANY NOISE AS IT DOES NOT
KNOW WHAT YOUR PAGING HOURS ARE. The pager must be either forced on or off.
(RemoteAccess Sysops Only).
Sysops that use anything apart from RA will not notice any differences.
If you would like to have Sysop Alert not make noise at certain times then
tell your bbs to create a file (Via an event) called PAGESTAT.RA and make sure
on line 1 of this file is the following number:
1) Auto (Assumed OFF) - Pager will not activate.
2) OFF - Pager will not activate.
3) ON - Pager WILL activate.
Configuration
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Simply run SYSA-120.EXE and the Configuration program will run automatically.
IF you stuffed up your configuration just delete SYSALERT.CFG and run Sysop
Alert again.
Configuration - Alert Files
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The alert files are the files that Sysop Alert reads which tells SysOp Alert
to make some noise or something. There are two types of Alert files. They are:
Good Users, Filename..: ALERT.LST
Bad Users, Filename...: LAMER.LST
The format these files should be is as follows:
Users Name
Users Name
Users Name
Example ALERT.LST File..
SYSOP
A FRIEND
CO-SYSOPS
<EOF>
Example LAMER.LST File..
JOE BLOGGS
LAMER LOVER
A. LAMER
<EOF>
Execution
-=-=-=-=-
RemoteAccess instructions below, Other BBS's under RemoteAccess instructions.
An example of a good command line to use is:
C:\RA\SYSALERT\SYSA-120.EXE C:\RA\NODE*N\DORINFO1.DEF *M
This program will work with ANY bbs package that supports DORINFO1.DEF
The *N Represents the node number that the user is on, so SysOp Alert would
look for the BBS user info file in C:\RA\NODE1 if the user was on node
one.
The *M will swap the bbs from memory to disk allowing this program to use
more memory.
OTHER BBS SOFTWARE:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Ok, So here are some instructions if your not running RA (RemoteAccess)
add the following to your BBS startup file or Autoexec.bat:
SET RA=C:\TEMP (or any directory that will always exist like maybe C:\BBS)
Then setup Sysop Alert to run with your bbs software! Simple! The RA variable
normally points to your BBS's main directory. Have fun!
Anyway, enjoy the few features this program has to offer, and look out for
other security programs like 'Security' which finds a heap of faulse details
or fake accounts and terminates the users call. This 'Security' program will
also make a blacklist file and another file with the reason why the user did
not pass the security checks.
